A fresher you
With the change of season, we all feel the need for a little refresh and reset. Whether it’s summer and we can finally bask in the warm glow of the sun, or winter and all we can think about is getting home and snuggling up in the warmth. Come rain or shine, it’s always a good time to rethink your beauty routine. Don’t worry, it doesn’t have to be a total overhaul! Just by making subtle changes you’ll be ready to take on the new season.
Here are some clever tips and changes to make to your beauty routine:
Mornings can be such a mad rush, hunting through all your eye shadows to find the one in mind. That ‘where is it?!’ mode can be a tad frustrating – which is why you need to get organised now!
And let’s be honest, there’s nothing better than a good old sort out, especially when you’re in a beauty reset and refresh frame of mind. Go through your make-up and beauty collection, and have a therapeutic cleanse. Throw out anything that’s passed its expiration date. Then breathe… and let it go!
We know that cleaning make-up brushes is one of life’s little niggles. You always mean to get round to it, then you get that daunting feeling when you look at your overflowing make-up drawer! We totally understand, but if you knew the amount of bacteria that settles into make-up brushes, you’d clean them in an instant.
For powder make-up brushes, place them downwards under running lukewarm water until most of the make-up has been removed. Then, gently wash them in baby shampoo until clean. Pat the bristles dry with a clean towel and leave to air-dry.
For liquid make-up brushes, you’re going to have to be a bit more thorough. Pour a small amount of make-up brush cleaner onto a paper towel, and gently swirl your brush in it to loosen the make-up. Rinse in warm water and dry the same way as your powder brushes. And you’re good to go!
As a change of season sets in, your skin’s needs are going to change too. Which means you need to stock up on the right facial skincare products to suit.
The spring months are key to bringing back that beautiful glow to your skin. Gently exfoliate your skin once a week to remove all those dead skin cells that prevent your glow. If you have very sensitive skin, or rosacea, use a gentle mask exfoliator to avoid any extra irritation.
If you’re headed into the warmer months, you need to start thinking more about your skin’s health. Using products that contain SPF will help protect your skin from UV rays, as well as keeping it soft and supple. For the colder months, your skin has a tendency to dry out – so up your moisturiser usage to suit.
We all love a change to our make-up look, and there’s no better time to try a new look than a new season! Don’t you just love a make-up revival?
Try a new foundation
During cold months, we often wear a foundation with more coverage, to combat dull winter skin. For the warmer months, try a lighter foundation with a mattifier or one that’s sheer and lightweight.
If you’re always going for the same old style with your eye make-up, why not invest in a new palette? For something soft and subtle, go for light watercolour shades. If you’re feeling a little more daring, we love bright tangerine shades!
Beauty trends are always borrowing from looks from the past. Red lipstick is a modern classic and throwback to the iconic old Hollywood era, and the bare-faced minimal chic is a classic 90s look. To recreate an 80s feel, go for a bold hot-pink blush, or for those who prefer natural looks, a pale rose colour would be perfect.
So, there you have it: quick and simple tips for when you want to refresh your beauty routine! Whatever the season, you’ll be prepped and ready for your close up.
